Compatibility divides by infotainment generation, not by model badge — Pivi Pro vehicles are usually an activation, earlier Touch Pro cars often need the retrofit kit:

On vehicles with compatible hardware the whole job is a remote software session of 30–45 minutes; kit-based retrofits add a hardware step behind the dashboard before the same coding session:

My 2020 Defender should have CarPlay already — why doesn't it? Some markets and early builds shipped with smartphone integration disabled in configuration even though the hardware supports it fully. Activation switches it on; nothing else is missing.

Will activation affect my warranty or software updates? Activation is a configuration change, not a modified flash, and over-the-air updates continue to work. The change can be reversed to as-built state at any time if required.

Does wireless CarPlay work after activation? That depends on the infotainment hardware revision, not the activation. Some Pivi Pro builds support wireless connections; Touch Pro-era cars are wired-only regardless of configuration.

Can you do a CarPlay retrofit on a Range Rover L405 or L494? Yes — L405/L494 cars are one of the most common jobs. 2017–2019 Touch Pro vehicles are often activation-only; earlier builds take the retrofit kit plus coding. The VIN check determines which.

Does Android Auto activate at the same time as CarPlay? Yes — the configuration enables the smartphone integration feature as a whole, so both platforms work after a single session. You only pay once.
